ALTERNATIVE THERAPY
Kinesiology Taping is a therapeutic technique that involves applying an elastic, stretchable tape on the skin to support muscles, joints, and soft tissues during movement. Kinesiology taping is commonly used in the management of sports injuries, postural imbalances, joint instability, muscular strain, tendonitis and post-surgical recovery. It can also be used preventively to reduce the risk of overuse injuries in athletes and active individuals. It also provides sensory feedback to the body, helping improve posture and joint alignment during movement. Each application is customized according to the patient’s condition - whether the goal is to facilitate weak muscles, relax tight structures, stabilize a joint or enhance circulation.
Dry Needling is an advanced therapeutic technique used to relieve muscle pain, stiffness and tension by targeting specific trigger points or tight bands within the muscles. The treatment involves the use of fine, sterile needles that are gently inserted into these sensitive spots to stimulate a healing response within the muscle tissue. When the needle reaches a trigger point, it causes a brief contraction or twitch response, which helps release muscle tension, improve blood flow, and restore normal muscle function. Dry needling works by promoting local tissue healing, reducing muscle tightness and normalizing nerve activity, leading to significant pain relief and improved movement.
Cupping Therapy is a therapeutic technique used to enhance blood circulation, relieve muscle tension, and promote tissue healing. It involves the application of specially designed cups on the skin to create a gentle vacuum or suction. This suction helps lift the underlying tissues, drawing fresh oxygenated blood to the area and facilitating the removal of metabolic waste and toxins from muscles and fascia. This process helps to reduce inflammation, decrease muscle tightness, and promote faster recovery in both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. The circular marks that sometimes appear after cupping are not bruises; they are temporary changes caused by increased blood flow and typically fade within a few days.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a specialized manual therapy technique that uses uniquely designed stainless-steel or polymer instruments to detect and treat restrictions or adhesions in the body’s soft tissues - including muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments. During the treatment, the physiotherapist gently glides the tool over the affected area with controlled pressure. The instruments allow for precise detection of abnormal tissue texture and localized restrictions, enabling targeted treatment without excessive strain on the therapist’s hands or patient’s tissues. IASTM helps to break down these adhesions, stimulate tissue remodeling, and promote faster healing by improving local blood flow and encouraging proper collagen alignment.
